WHAT WE OFFER
SESCIL has a nurse, social worker, and podiatrist on staff and offers dentistry services that are moderately priced. Our programming includes a variety of exercise classes, language groups, bridge clubs, weight reduction, and water coloring to name a few. Additionally we offer Post Stroke and Parkinson’s support groups.  Please click on the appropriate banner to see an up to date complete listing of all we provide.  We have an active five day per week schedule.  Parking is available and bus service is provided free of charge to some of our communities.

WHO WE ARE
In 1978, when Community Development (HUD) funds became available, 11 municipalities from the Southeast region of Bergen County, New Jersey (Bogota, Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Fairview, Fort Lee, Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield and Ridgefield Park), decided to pool their allotments and have a collective project of their own, along with other projects for their municipalities. They chose a health project, the Southeast Senior Center for Independent Living (i.e., SESCIL), which provides preventive and maintenance health care services to the elderly on an individual basis.

From its inception to the present, SESCIL has had a community-based policy-making Board of Directors consisting of representatives of the 11 municipalities in the region, and an approximately similar number of health and geriatric professionals, as well as several client representatives. Until July 1, 1992 administrative matters were handled by the County. At that time SESCIL became an autonomous, independent non-profit organization.

WHY SESCIL? BACK TO THE FUTURE
As we increasingly design and offer appropriate services and programs for our members, great thought must be given to making them accessible to the intended clientele.  To this end, we have established this Website in addition to our frequent lectures at local senior centers, press releases, and monthly calendars which are distributed within a number of communities in order to reach out to potential clientele to an even greater degree.  With dwindling governmental funds and increasing costs, any sponsorship and/or support of SESCIL's web site is crucial to the success of our efforts.
