"Evening at SESCIL"

2008 Report
"Evening at SESCIL"
was held on Wednesday, April the 30th, in the
modern annex to SESCIL's Landmark building. The main goal of this
one-of-a-kind social event of 2008 in the life of SESCIL was
to acquaint local officials - who serve in and around the
Englewood area - with its multifarious services and
programs.
For the record, all of SESCIL's classes are
free, and are available to area seniors - virtually at their
doorstep - throughout the year. That fact, in and of itself,
we felt should encourage local officials to communicate to their
constituents the details of what SESCIL has to offer to its
seniors for their health and wellbeing. To that end, we invited a wide range of mayors and community
leaders across the region. Also, as a
gesture of goodwill, we invited county and state
officials as well.
A computer,
showcasing SESCIL's Website, was on display in the
annex hall. Judging from the many questions asked about
the site at www.sescil.org,
it is safe to say that quite a number of our distinguished
guests were intrigued by the breadth and depth of SESCIL's
offerings - particularly in the area of free exercise
programs tailored specifically to seniors' needs that are
offered on a regular basis at 228 Grand Avenue, Englewood.
In addition, SESCIL Board
and staff members were on hand to conduct tours in batches
of half-a-dozen invitees each, in order to provide them with
a "running commentary" on the historic and
utilitarian importance of the complex to the residents of
Englewood and beyond.
We took several pictures of this
social interaction between prominent public and private
figures in our area, and they can be accessed right
here beginning
with a snapshot of
SESCIL
Chairperson/President Joseph de Guilmo giving his
welcoming address.
