SESCIL - IN SYNC WITH SENIORS AND THEIR HEALTH NEEDS
(PRLEAP.COM) The Southeast Senior Center for
Independent Living (SESCIL) of Englewood, in Bergen
County, New Jersey, has a multifaceted and humane approach
to providing seniors with medical programs that are in sync
with their health needs. Seniors, 55 and over, can benefit
from SESCIL’s myriad programs and services by simply joining
the Center, free of charge: all they need to do is to call
201-569-4080. Also, there is NO charge for any classes,
including exercises and recreational activities, held at the
Center.
- SESCIL has a fully-equipped dental office, on site,
offering low-fee dentistry, which is approximately
50% less than the "going" rate anywhere else. New Jersey
Licensed Dentists provide all but the most complicated
work. Two Hygienists are also on staff. This service
is of paramount importance in maintaining general good
health, especially for seniors, because poor dental care can
have an overall negative affect on ones entire system.
- A Podiatrist is at the Center weekly. An important
part of his practice deals with diabetic foot care and
educating people who suffer from diabetes. Shoes are
provided for diabetics through Medicare, as well as for
those with special podiatric problems.
- An Audiologist is available to test ones hearing,
and that’s covered by Medicare and most HMOs.
- A Registered Nurse interviews all members to assess
their individual health status and follows up on those who
need further care or education. Blood pressure clinics, as
well as individual counseling, are held on a bi-monthly
basis. The Nurse and a Doctor, whose specialty is
weight control, hold weekly classes and weigh-ins. Obesity
is a major source of serious health problems. By addressing
this issue SESCIL feels that it can help seniors live a
healthier and more independent life. The nurse also leads
weekly classes about a host of health issues and educates
members how best they can live their lives and enjoy optimum
health during their golden years.
